RACISM BLUR; the idea of a young poet to shadow the act of racism and start living in harmony as humans.
I’m black
You are white
I’m poor
You are rich
But what matters is we are both human
I experience rain
You experience snow mostly
Both fall from the sky
You call it summer
I call it harmattan
What matters is they are both dry seasons
You have your PhD
I have my Masters degree
What matters is we are both educated
You are the Director
I am the security
What matters is;we both play our roles well
You depend on me for protection
I depend on you for finance
Both are worthwhile
You buy from the restaurant
I buy from the street
What matters is we both feed our families
You hate the colour of my skin
Yet you put on a black fashioned trousers under your white shirt
It’s beautiful; isn’t it?
Light depends on darkness to have some rest
Darkness depends on light to shine
Will you live forever while I die?
Does God value your faithfulness than mine?
You get amazed
when you see your colleague and I
relating happily as though we were a family
Why not join us?
Why not Shadow that mindset of yours ?
Why not blur that negative eye?
Our fathers fought for freedom
Your fathers lived with freedom
All that matters is we are both free
Do you have a white teeth while I have a black one?
Do you fly while I walk?
You bleed easily
I hardly do
All that matters is; we both heal up eventually
We have the raw materials
You have the production equipments
We import your products
You gain income
The most important thing is
We all benefit
You gain
And we satisfy our pleasure
Yes our skin pigments are different
But we possess equal qualities
Yes your wealth is above mine
But we both live under the sun
Yes you are much more educated
But we will all leave it behind someday
We both yearn for love, peace, happiness and long life
We want to be free from Racism
Why not avoid discrimination
You disowned your own
For he married from a different clan
You beat your own soldier to death
For he was out of uniform
You sit at the high table while I sit below
For you offer more than I do
Until we love ourselves
Racism continues
Until we put ourselves on equal standards
We remain victims of racism in their world
It’s time we put off the difference in skin pigments
It’s time we turn our backs on Racism and discrimination
You are white
